Past Fundraising & Community Milestones

• Establishing the Legacy: Our fundraising journey began with the inaugural Luisa M. Velasquez Golf Tournament & BBQ, hosted by General Electric (Luisa's post-MBA employer). This successful event raised over $11,000, providing the initial momentum needed to elevate the scholarship fund.

• The Power of Community: In the early years of the fund (2014-2018), annual fundraiser gatherings brought together family, friends, and colleagues to celebrate Luisa’s life. These events were instrumental in reaching our final stretch toward our financial goals. You can view memories from these foundational reunions in our Gallery.

• Endowment Milestone: A major turning point occurred in 2016 when our community reached the significant milestone of fully endowing the scholarship. This achievement ensures that Luisa’s legacy will continue to support students in perpetuity.

• Honoring Our Scholars: As the fund evolved, our focus grew to include the recognition of our scholarship recipients. We were proud to introduce our first recipient, Rozy Amponsah, during our fourth annual fundraising event, marking the beginning of a new chapter in our mission to support future leaders.
